Recently, I have been undergoing some pretty drastic changes… as many have within the current U.S. economy. In finding myself in this situation, I have been seemingly off on several creative tangents… dabbling within this area or this particular media, as well as other areas and media in attempts to ‘get things going’ in light of this situation. Having posted before with the title having a reference to Monty Python’s “And now for something completely different…” segue
My many ‘Thanks!’ and mucho appreciation to all of you for your ‘Likes’ and comments, over the new ‘MOODS’ samples I have posted.
Will be posting some exciting news very soon about this Series and these images….so please Share and Stay Tuned!
Here are some more to peruse and meditate on….
Have been creating some new artwork….(as if I ever really stopped)!
Created these artworks using a combination of techniques and styles, incorporating what is called ‘Hypno-Sound Meditation’.
Using this in creating artwork just sort of became entrancing, and just took on a life of its own in one after another.
Each of these was created using the fabulous Procreate App for iPad….which I highly recommend to any Artist, old or new. Can find out more about Procreate and the Devs at Savage Interactive here: http://procreate.si/ or just go type in ‘procreate’ in the App store.
Here’s a few examples to wet your appetite!
Just finished the Draconus Series I have been working on for a while, and am quite pleased with the results!
Currently working with the images to ready them for various outlets. As of now, using InDesign and creating an eBook for stores.
Will update when I get that finished. As for now, another Sneak Peak of one of the images.
Also be putting the series to exhibit on a drop down Gallery here as well soon! Keep you posted!
Just been quite busy as of late. Best thing for the Artist…especially if on your own works.
Have been painting and creating some Digital Art for a while now on the Procreate software for iPad, and just cannot say enough about it. It is absolutely the best and has not only increased my own production of work…but know from contributing to the Community at the Savage Interactive Procreate website, it has had the same effect on others. Is just truly a remarkable team of 4 guys that developed it, and has given so much to many Artists out there- budding or experienced.
Ok. Nuff of the blatant endorsing…which I get nothing from but just joy of expressing how much I love this App.
Been working on several things, but on the personal Art side….have begun a new Series. It is Abstract in nature….somewhat akin to the Figurative Abstract Watercolors that I have done for years, but utilizing the Digital realm…and going off into a bit more of the Fantasy Genre. Which is not too unusual for me obviously…but this started as whimsy and now has grown into a series of works now.
The Series is titled ‘Draconus’, and it is all about Dragons. Dragons of the Ancient Realm, re-imagined and named per individual piece created and rendered. Have already worked up to 7…and continuing onward. Has pretty much become a nice style with a unique look to it, which goes into the similarity of the Figurative Abstract Watercolors series of works I have and continue to do, and I can see doing these for quite some time as well. Look forward to seeing it evolve.
Will have some more works posted soon, in the Digital Art section and will put it under it’s own nested page. But here is a glimpse of a couple….
Looking forward to finishing the Draconus Series in this initial stage, as I am looking to get 12 minimum so as to put them into a Calendar as well as prints of various sorts. Also working on some eBooks of work, and sure it can become one of it’s own if not merely a featured part of another.
Will keep posting updates….just thought I’d check in and give a word!
Many know how to Share Procreate Brushes already, but many also may not…. no problem!
Just a guide that should work so one can Share/Export any Brushes they make onto the Custom Brushes Section……provided everything is up to snuff with your own personal device, device version, Procreate Version and website,,,,and of course any ISP issues. 😉
THIS IS USING DROPBOX – – Dropbox Free on App Store, must create free Dropbox Account
for comp version: https://www.dropbox.com/install
Make sure you have the latest, greatest version of Procreate…currently 1.7
I’ll save time by simply saying ‘a picture paints a thousand words’…. and the process to Sharing Brushes with Procreate and Dropbox are contained in the video below.
This post is mainly going to be geared for those that are already familiar with one of the best Drawing/Painting Apps available. Procreate for iPad. Yep, for those unfamiliar….I did say something other than Photoshop or Paper, among others. For the less informed, Procreate is a software App created by Savage Interactive…a little developer company from Down Under, Australia (well, in a round about way). Made up of 4 Guys….yes, only 4 guys have developed this software capable of surpassing even your grandest Drawing App to date….the App is quickly becoming THE Mobile Studio for Artists…and with integration of Dropbox, iTunes, and ease of import and export to other applications (including PSD files) it is no wonder.
If you haven’t checked it out or purchased it. Is definitely worth every Penny.
Sorry Droid users, no plans for a version…also, no desktop version (yet, fingers crossed) but iPad exclusive that works well with many Styluses as well.
As for the ones that do have Procreate or are new, or even the just interested….this will cover a little of how to Download Custom Created Brushes into your Procreate App. (yep, can create and share your own brushes even folks!)
Below is the written explanation, but have made a short video at the bottom…which covers the process as well as a bit extra.
Many know how to Download/Import Procreate Brushes already, but many also may not…. no problem!
Just a guide that should work so one can DL any Brushes on the Custom Brushes Section……provided everything is up to snuff with your own personal device, device version, Procreate Version and website,,,,and of course any ISP issues. 😉
Make sure you have the latest, greatest version of Procreate…currently 1.7
TIP: Should be using a web browser on your actual device for easiest DL into Procreate, but can also DL if not on your device with steps outlined below.
Find Brushes in the Custom Brushes Forums, and the thread that has brushes that you want….. most have a picture of what the Brush looks like when used, along with a Procreate Brush File link that ends in ‘.brush’ which looks like this:
Shaded Ribbon 2012-12-18 (05.03.25-290 PM).brush (45.95 kB)
-Click the link, and a new window will appear in your browser.
-Choose ‘Open in Procreate’ …this will exit the browser and open Procreate automatically.
When Procreate opens…a small pop up in center of canvas will read ‘Brushes Imported’ (this happens quickly so may not see it)
-New Brushes will already be there, found by selecting ‘Brush Tool’…swiping the Brush Tab section at top…and in the Tab ‘Imported’ (near the ‘New Set’ tab at far right end).
And you are ready to go!
Can move into your own folder or pre-existing ones, duplicate, rename, edit, etc
When not using your iPad…. or on another computer….
NOTE: Need to have Dropbox App (Free DL in App store or here for computerhttps://www.dropbox.com/install)…and set up a Free Dropbox Account.
In browser, click Brush Link as above….instead of choosing ‘Open in Procreate’…
click ‘Open In’
-A pop up will give options for ‘Open in Procreate’ or ‘Open in Dropbox’….select ‘Open in Dropbox’
Nothing will seem to happen…. don’t worry!
-Open your Dropbox App (if on tablet) or Folder on your computer….the Brush file should be listed there.
-If on tablet, there is an arrow pointing into a half square on far top right corner… click this.
A pop up will show ‘Open in Procreate’ ….and same prcess outlined eariler will happen, brushes ready to go!
–If on computer, no worries…it will be there when you finally are on tablet to do the same and Import into Procreate.
Hope this helps!
